Purpose: This sub-group at MSHS exists for students who intend to apply for membership in the National Honor Society during the fall of their junior year or fall of their senior year.

Service Requirement: In addition to meeting the 3.75 GPA requirement for NHS, eligible juniors and seniors who request admission must submit and have approved here on InnerView a total of at least 20 hours of community service: 
- in activities posted here (example: school blood drive),
- and in individual activities (example: volunteering at the Kansas Humane Society),

Service Guidelines: For NHS, service does not include work for relatives, private businesses, or individuals, nor does it include leading religious study, services, or prayer. NHS-eligible service should:
- benefit people outside of one's family, club, team, or close group
- serve an identifiable need such as hunger, health, education, etc. (apart from religious instruction, worship, or recruitment)
- not receive pay
- be supervised by an adult contact like a teacher, organizer, etc. (not a parent)
