Spalding University is a private, co-educational university in Louisville, Kentucky affiliated with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Spalding University was once the oldest Catholic university west of the Alleghenies. Founded in 1814 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, it was named after Mother Catherine Spalding, foundress of the Sisters.
