During this challenging time, a kind note can make a huge impact! The Food Bank for New York City is seeking volunteers to write brief notes of encouragement to distribute with emergency pantry bags to New Yorkers in need. Notes will be hand-disributed from the Community Kitchen in Harlem, as well as through their network of soup kitchens and food pantries across the five boroughs.
Clients include families, seniors, students, long-time clients as well as those who have just lost their jobs due to COVID-19. Because the circumstances of each person that receives your cards may very, please address each note generically as "a neighbor" or "a friend" and use content appropriate for any potential recipient.
Send 4 cards with general positive messages, ie. "thinking of you during this callenging time", quote, poem, pictures, etc. If you are comfortable, we suggest you sign your note/card with your first name and city/state.
