  • What you’ll do

In one day, a single volunteer with no previous construction experience can mud and spackle several rooms, install a new floor, or paint a small house. Imagine what’s possible in two days—or two weeks, or a month?

The more volunteers that participate in this experience, the greater the impact. You and your team can volunteer in any of the locations in which the nonprofit is currently active. During the experience, the nonprofit's AmeriCorps site supervisors will train and equip you, with your safety as their top priority.

As a volunteer, you will literally help rebuild a family’s home. This may include hanging insulation or drywall, mudding/spackling, sanding, texturing, priming, painting, laying floors, and/or hanging trip doors and baseboards.

    What to bring:

    Safety Glasses
    Work Gloves
Cloth or Surgical Mask for COVID safety
    Reusable Water Bottle
    Lunch/Snacks

    What else you should know:

    • Groups of ten or more volunteers may be divided into small groups to rebuild at various work sites.

    • Volunteers must wear shoes that are sturdy and appropriate for construction work such as sneakers or boots.

    • Volunteers must wear clothes that are appropriate for a construction site.

    • All volunteers must be fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination is required prior to the volunteer experience. All volunteers and staff are required to wear a mask indoors and where social distancing is not an option outdoors.

    • The location of this experience will depend on the construction site your company chooses. There are locations available in Houston, TX; New Orleans, LA; and San Juan, PR.

  • Transportation Details & Disability Access
Volunteers are responsible for transportation to and from the rebuild site.

  • Training Required
Each Volunteer will go through Orientation and a Safety briefing before starting their workday.
