Young people deserve to be heard! In honor of this year’s Youth Day on August 12th, we want to amplify your voices and creativity about the issues that matter to you most.
- Half of the people on our planet are 30 or younger, which is expected to reach 57% by the end of 2030.
- Survey shows that 67% of people believe in a better future, with 15 to 17 year-olds being the most optimistic about this.
- The majority of people agree that the age balance in politics is wrong. More than two thirds (69%) of people across all age groups agree that more opportunities for younger people to have a say in policy development/change would make political systems better.
- Globally, only 2.6% of parliamentarians are under 30 years old, and less than 1% of these young MPs are women.
What issue do you want the world to address? We call on you to take creative action that we can amplify by doing the following:
FIRST, select the Global Goal you are most interested in reaching.
NEXT, select one of the following artistic mediums and use it to create a piece that draws attention to the global goal you want the world to achieve.
- Performing art such as spoken word, a play, or monologue OR
- Visual art such as drawing, painting, photography, film, or collage OR
- Literary art such as poetry, essay, or story
NEXT, find an organization working toward achieving your chosen goal. Do they need volunteers? Funding? Do they offer community service?
FINALLY, upload a photo of you holding your visual representation when you post this activity on InnerView and
email the Creative Visions team at [email protected] along with your responses to the following questions:
- What inspired you to pick your selected global goal?
- What aspects of the organization are you excited to tell others about?
- What can others do to connect with your selected organization?
