Creative Visions was founded in memory of Dan Eldon, an incredible artist, changemaker, and photojournalist who tragically lost his life at the age of 22 while on assignment in Somalia in 1993. Journalists shouldn’t have to risk or lose their lives to tell difficult stories about world events.

This World Press Freedom Day, we invite you to creatively celebrate the power of a free press. Here are some ways you can be a champion for freedom of the press in a creative way:
PHOTO ACTIVISTS: Create a photo collage that depicts the strength of journalists reporting the truth, protests for press freedom around the globe, or even highlight redacted sections in censored news articles.
ART FOR OPEN MINDS: Craft a piece of art where a section is deliberately censored with bold black bars or blurred sections. Let your artwork symbolize the struggle against information suppression.
SYMBOLIC SNAPSHOTS: Set up a still-life photograph or draw/paint symbolic objects. A pen and notebook can represent reporters' tools, a globe can signify the global reach of a free press, and a broken chain can symbolize breaking free from censorship.
