We are looking for a motivated GIS Specialist intern to join our conservation project team. This internship is open to seniors in high school or above, preferably undergraduates pursuing a degree in Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, or related fields.
In this role, you will assist in the preparation of maps, spatial data collection, and analysis to support the conservation planning process. Your tasks will include creating visual representations of geographic and ecological data, helping to identify restoration priorities, and contributing to the development of conservation strategies.
This is an unpaid internship, requiring a commitment of 4-5 hours per week over the course of 2-3 months. You will work closely with a team of ecologists, community liaisons, and project leaders to assist in the creation of a Conservation Plan, focusing on mapping and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare GIS maps and visuals for site assessments and conservation plans.
Support data collection and analysis related to ecological and cultural aspects of the project.
Work collaboratively with team members to incorporate GIS data into restoration planning.
Update maps based on feedback and revisions from stakeholders and team members.
Ideal Candidate:
Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication skills for presenting GIS data to team members.
