  • For World Refugee Day on June 20th, we honor the millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes. Many are children facing uncertain futures.

With this in mind, we ask you to create a unique card—a small but powerful gift of hope, strength, and welcome. With very few words, or no words at all, your art will send a universal message of encouragement and belonging. This card is a symbol of your compassion, reminding refugee children that they are not alone and that their dreams still matter, and that all of our stories are interconnected.

    1.  Find a Quiet Space: Sit somewhere you can think and create without distractions.

    2.  Reflect and Imagine:

    • What simple things in your life make you feel safe, happy, and strong?

    • Take a moment to think about children who have had to leave their homes and everything they know. Consider how they might feel. Scared, lonely, or confused?

    • Now, imagine you could send a tiny spark of love, kindness, and a sense of safety to a child who really needs it. What would it look like?

    3.  Fold Your Card: Fold an 8.5” x11” piece of paper in half, like a greeting card. The front will be your cover, and the inside will hold your messages.

    4.  Create Your Art Message (Inside the Card): Use only a few words or none at all! Let your art speak across all languages. Fill the inside of your card with colorful, positive images. Think about:

    • Bright, hopeful colors: lots of yellows, oranges, blues, greens, pinks.

    • Shining suns or stars

    • Rainbows

    • Simple hearts

    • Flowers blooming

    • Trees with strong roots

    • Abstract swirls or patterns that feel calming or joyful.

    • Focus on feelings like: safety, happiness, peace, strength, new beginnings, and friendship.

    • Think about the message you want to send to a child refugee.

    5.  Design Your Cover (Outside the Card): On the front of your folded card, create a simple, strong visual greeting that welcomes a child or teen to open it and see what’s inside.

    6.  Submit: You can either mail your completed card, or take photos of the front and inside of the card and send them via email for the Creative Visions team to print.
