Food is more than something we eat — it’s a story, a memory, and a bridge that connects us to others. It’s one of the many ways we express who we are and how we belong. In that same spirit of connection, Creative Changemakers invites you to explore another Creative Visions program called Students Rebuild, which invites young people around the world to take creative action for global good. This year’s theme, Unique & United, celebrates the beauty of our differences and the strength that comes from coming together as one community.
*For every piece of creative expression or youth engaged in the Call to Action, Creative Visions makes a $5 donation to one of our Impact Partners. Learn more about Students Rebuild and our Impact Partners here.
Create a visual piece of art —such as a drawing, painting, collage, photograph, or digital artwork —that depicts a meal that holds meaning for you during a holiday or special occasion. This could be a dish you share with friends, family, neighbors, or community members, or even something you enjoy on your own as part of a personal tradition.
Include a short written reflection that explains: What the meal or dish is and the holiday or occasion it represents, How this food reflects your unique culture, traditions, or personal history, How preparing, sharing, or enjoying this meal connects you to others, showing that even though we all have different experiences, we are all part of a larger human community.
As you complete your piece of work, consider how food brings people together. Think about how a shared meal, a favorite recipe, or a meaningful tradition can celebrate gratitude, love, and a sense of belonging. Your art should capture the warmth, meaning, and connection behind the food that makes your story special.
