The start of a new year is an opportunity to pause, rejuvenate, and restore our energy, focus, and balance. When we take care of ourselves, physically, mentally, and emotionally, we build resilience and clarity that help us manage stress and stay grounded. This self-care doesn’t just benefit us as individuals; it shapes how we show up for others. When we feel recharged, we are more patient, empathetic, and engaged, making self-care a foundation not only for personal well-being but also for being a positive, supportive member of our community. Through creative expression, we can explore what renewal looks like for us and how it supports others.
Step 1: Reflection & Grounding:
Quietly reflect or journal on the following prompts:
- What helps me feel rested, balanced, or recharged?
- When I feel rejuvenated, how do I treat others differently?
- What habits or moments do I want more of this year to support my well-being?
Step 2: Art Creation – “What Rejuvenation Looks Like for Me”
Create an original piece of art that represents rejuvenation and renewal in your life and its ripple effect on your community.
Medium: Any medium you want (drawing, painting, collage, digital art, photography, poetry, music, mixed media, sculpture, short video, dance, etc.)
Guiding Ideas (optional):
Feeling stuck? Consider these elements and how they can enhance the overall message of your work.
- Colors, symbols, or textures that feel calming or energizing
- Places, routines, or people that help restore balance
- Metaphors (light, seasons, water, growth, rest, cycles)
As you work on this, remember to enjoy the process. There is no “right” outcome. There is only what is true for you. Focus on meaning, not perfection.
Step 3: Reflection
Write a brief reflection responding to the following two prompts.
- What does my artwork say about how I recharge?
- How does taking care of myself help me be a better friend, student, or community member?
Step 4: Submit
Take it a step further:
Between January 12th and March 31st, 2026, submit your work to our youth mental health campaign
#CreateConnectCare. When you submit, you may qualify for a Moleskine Creativity Journal and cash awards from $100 - $500. Your work may also be featured in our online gallery, and you will become part of a larger global conversation about youth mental health and well-being.
