Something as small as a handmade card at mealtime can make an impact on a patient during their time with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Help their patients feel cared for by making 4 tented cards for their meal trays that make them smile or laugh. They serve both pediatric patients and adults so you're welcome to make cards for any age group.
Supplies:
Either use 3x5 index cards or take a single full-size sheet of paper and fold it in half once lenth-wise and once width-wise and then cut along the creases to create 4 smaller rectangles. Each index card or slip of paper should be folded in half to make a tent that stands up on its own.
Making the Cards:
- Decorate both the front of each tent card and the inside as well.
- Include funny or cheery messages and pictures. Riddles or Knock-knock jokes work great, just make sure you include the punchline!
- You can sign the inside of the card with your first name and hometown if you like.
- Messages can be written in English or Spanish.
- DO NOT use glitter!
- DO NOT write things like "get well soon" or "feel better" since some patients have life-long conditions.
Ideas for Messages:
- Hope you're having a wonderful day!
- You're a ray of sunshine!
- Keep shining!
- You're awesome!
