  • Did you know Montana’s Northern Great Plains were once filled with massive herds of bison, elk, and pronghorn? Today, grasslands are one of the most threatened ecosystems in the world — and American Prairie is working to restore this incredible landscape.

Through a bold conservation effort, American Prairie is helping assemble 3.2 million acres of protected land to rebuild a thriving prairie ecosystem where wildlife can roam freely again.

One key part of this work is Cameras for Conservation — a program that places trail cameras on private land to capture images of wildlife like coyotes, wolves, and even grizzly bears. Landowners receive payments based on the species identified, helping make wildlife a valued part of the local economy. Your Role

As a volunteer, you’ll help identify animals in trail camera photos. Your classifications directly support conservation research and help landowners receive payments for wildlife on their property.

    Why participate?
    • Contribute to real wildlife conservation
    • Help protect one of the world’s most threatened ecosystems
    • Learn about prairie wildlife and biodiversity
    • Build skills in observation and data analysis

Join us in protecting the American Prairie — one photo at a time. 🌎🐾
