The Field Museum in Chicago has a huge collection of invertebrates—including millions of snail specimens. Each specimen has important information about where and when it was collected, but much of this information is still written in old handwritten ledgers and isn’t available online yet.
In this project, you can help by “snail scribing.” That means reading handwritten entries from the museum’s records and typing the information into a digital database. By helping transcribe these records, you’ll make valuable scientific data accessible to researchers and the public around the world.
Your work will help scientists study biodiversity, track environmental changes over time, and better understand how ecosystems are changing. Even small contributions help unlock important information from the museum’s collections and support real scientific research.
