Volunteer just 4-6 hours a month with Ohio’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program
As an Ombudsman Associate, you are critical to the success of the Ombudsman Program. You will be the first contact most older adults and families will have with the program. Your regular visits help residents in long-term care facilities.Volunteers are certified to perform certain duties, including:
• Providing information about the Ombudsman Program and Resident Rights
• Assisting with handling uncomplicated complaints
• Being a voice for those who are unable to make their voice heard
• Enhancing the quality of life of nursing home residents

Transportation Details & Disability Access
Volunteers will have their own transportation to a nursing or assisted living home near their home or place of work and for on-site training. We do provide mileage for travel to training sessions we provide. Our office and any nursing or assisted living home you visit would be accessible.
Training Required
Volunteers are provided 14 hours of training, including 2 hours in a nursing or assisted living home with the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers are asked to gain 6 additional credits throughout the year. We offer additional training opportunities or you can request credit from training you may have completed in a similar field.
