SUMMARY
Reflection
Through my Governor's Page Service Project, I learned the importance of creativity and flexibility in serving your community. I knew I wanted to give back to the Children's Law Center, a non-profit that organizes lawyers to volunteer to represent children caught in high-custody conflict and domestic violence cases. I've been volunteering with the CLC for two years, and I was so grateful they gave me the space to further support them through this project.
Project Impact
Contacted over 30+ youth-led and youth oriented organizations to gather over $1,000 worth of goods and services to be auctioned for the Children's Law Center of Central North Carolina.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Connectedness
During my Page week, I learned all about the executive branch of state government. I heard from current employees and toured government buildings to create a stronger idea of how policy is created.

Project Planning
7.00 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
After contacting and recieving approval from the Children's Law Center about joining their yearly fundraiser, Speak Up for Children, I offically began my "Youth Empowering Youth" campaign. With this campaign, I will collect youth art (in the form of paintings, dance/singing/drama tickets, and more) to be auctioned off for the Children's Law Center, an organization providing guardian ad-litem services to children experiencing domestic violence and/or caught in a high custody conflict case. Today, I reached out to 20+ youth/youth organizations about donating, and recieved some word back. While I wait to hear back, I will keep brainstorming organizations I can reach out to and contacting more people. Below is a portrait by a local W-S artist that will be included in the fundraiser.

Publicity
15.00 hours leading an initiative | Curiosity
Spent the last two weeks reaching out to over 30 youth leaders and artists in my community to gather materials. I reached out to a wide variety of youth, from landscaping services to ceramists. I also contacted organizations that provide youth services, such as Sawtooth Center for the Arts. Sawtooth donated a family membership priced at $125 for parents and their children to share the joy of creating art together while giving back to their community. I also reached out to the Governor's School West Meme Page to promote infographics about the event to Governor's School artists. I reached an additional artist through this outreach, and drove out to Cary to pick up their work for the event.

Do the Project
3.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
Presented "Youth Empowering Youth's" art to the Children's Law Center's donors at their annual fundraiser, Speak up For Children. The event was a success! In total, I reached out to over 30 youth organizations to gather a total of over $1,000 of goods and services to be auctioned.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Compassion
In reflection, I am grateful for the Children's Law Center and the Governor's Page Program for giving me the inspiration and space to create this project. It was such a rewarding experience and I am so glad to have helped the "champions of children" support my community's most vulnerable.
