    SUMMARY
    Reflection
Composting seems hard until you actually try it. I feel like society has ingrained in us that doing things the natural way is inherently harder, when it really isn't. You just have to put a little more effort into it. My husband built the compost bin for next to nothing and the only effort was in the walk it took from the kitchen to the back yard. It's a small price to pay to help the environment.
    Project Impact
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what this means.
    PROJECTS TASKS
    Project Kickoff
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Compassion
Made a compost bin for our backyard so we can compost what we would have thrown away.
    Week 1 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
    Weighing our food waste
    Week 2 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Respect
Food weigh (forgot the scale) the tops of peppers and skin of garlic can be easy to overlook. It's important to remember even the "small things" matter.
    Food Waste Education
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Connectedness
    Family chat about wastefulness.
    Week 3 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
Eating the cucumber that was sitting in the fridge for awhile to make sure it doesn't get forgotten!
    Week 4 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
This is all we had left after cooking dinner one night- and it all went into the compost. It's getting easier to not throw as much away.
    Week 5 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
Our struggle right now is figuring out how to stop throwing away so much plastic. We've gotten better at not throwing away food- it all goes to compost now. But the packaging is a big problem too!
    Week 6 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
Our food waste (and yard waste) in our compost bin.
    Project Summary
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Compassion
We got off to a rough start but figured out that it is NOT as hard as it seems to compost instead of trashing. I'm going to try to get more people on board. I didn't take a picture so I hope this selfie works for it.
