SUMMARY
Reflection
This opportunity was a great opportunity that allowed me to connect with community and kids. During my time here one thing that stood out to me the most was how these kids were not getting the same opportunities as other people. This program allowed them to get that. It allowed for better education and more opportunities going into highschool and internships going into college. The kids in this program have such sweet hearts and are always up for a challenge. I enjoyed helping them because they made me think about other ways I can help my community become stronger and get better education. I was very thankful for this opportunity to have such an experience and have an overall impact on the community. I would love to do this again sometime in the future.
Project Impact
This impacted my community in many ways. Our public school system in Baltimore City is pretty poor so this program allows kids who are struggling in school and at home to get good education and build life long friendships. This program also sets them up for highschool and college trying to prevent the number is kids that end up back on the streets. The overall numbers impact is that bridges has expanded to 4 cited with a total of 485 kids that they are working and making n an impact on.

This week I participated in the Governor’s Page Program and I partook in many different activities like meeting the governor, working with the lady cardinals group, touring state buildings, learning about policy and different departments, and lastly preparing and presenting a policy for the department I researched. I learned so many news things about the government of North Carolina and had the opportunity to make connections and grow in skills I did not even know I had. This was a great experience that I will use to grow and make connections to keep and continue on.

I took the time to plan this throughout my summer. I had to apply to volunteer and worked with the people to get to know them better. After planning out what weeks I was going to volunteer I did a training session in the spring to better understand the program. Then I went on to volunteer.

I worked at bridges for a week and then another well but not back to back. I enjoyed working with the kids there and helping them get a better education and understanding of real world scenarios. This bettered my connection to the community and understanding where they were coming from and the opportunities that I had but they did not get a chance to have. Overall my experience was amazing and I would love to do it again.

I had this amazing opportunity to give back to the community while learning new things about my community at the same time. This was an amazing time. I am so glad I got to work with kids and helping them with education.
