    SUMMARY
    Reflection
This entire process was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be. Making the donation boxes was pretty time consuming. In this whole experience though, I learned just how much work big nonprofits put in because I’ve seen them do collection drives like this multiple times in a year and they get dozens of donations. I also learned how difficult but rewarding it is to work with a nonprofit, especially one that is fighting for a cause that you identify with/support. I chose Books for Africa because I myself am a 2nd generation african so it felt nice to give back to a cause that is so close to my heart.
    Project Impact
I collected 10 books, 4 from the neighborhood collection boxes, 3 from my church, and the last 3 were my own donations.

    Collection Drive
4.00 hours leading a collection drive | Compassion
Today, I picked up all 4 of the donation boxes. This includes the 1 box at my church and the 3 boxes in my neighborhood. I have gathered the donated books together and am looking for a box to mail my books. In the picture below, you can see some of the books that I collected (these aren’t all the books I collected, they’re the best quality books that I collected).
    Deliver Donations
1.00 hour leading a collection drive | Integrity
I made a flyer that I might post in the areas where I put the donation boxes. I’m the flyer, I thanked all the people that participated in my drive.

    SUMMARY
    Reflection
In this service project, I learned a lot about food waste and about how we waste so much more food than we think we do. I also learned just how serious food waste is as well as how to minimize it in my own household.
    Project Impact
Food waste is a global issue so I hope that my project makes a small impact in reducing the amount of waste worldwide. In doing this service project, I was able to decrease the average amount of pounds of food waste in my house by 0.2 lbs or 0.05kg. It's a very small decrease but I will continue to check my food waste.
