    SUMMARY
    Reflection
Organizing Shaping the Future 2025 taught me how powerful youth leadership can be when careful planning meets community collaboration. I learned the importance of communication, especially when coordinating volunteers, local partners, and sponsors to keep the event running smoothly. This project challenged me to stay flexible, solve problems quickly, and trust the team around me. I also learned that large-scale service events require not just passion, but structure, timelines, and clear expectations to be successful. Overall, this experience showed me that one idea, when supported by a committed community, can create real change in a rural area.
    Project Impact
Shaping the Future 2025 served more than 800 community members and provided over 500 fully stocked backpacks to students across Vance County. The event featured 10 vendors, multiple youth performers, and three major community partners. More than 40 volunteers contributed their time to set up, distribute supplies, manage stations, and ensure families received resources smoothly. Through these combined efforts, the project strengthened community connections and provided essential support to hundreds of youth preparing for the school year.
    PROJECTS TASKS
    Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Curiosity
I engaged with state department leaders through policy discussions and Q&A discussions. I attended a general assembly session and also created a draft policy to expand mentorship in rural communities.
    Project Planning
20.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
For my Governor’s Page service project, I organized and led “Shaping the Future 2025,” a large-scale community empowerment event in downtown Henderson. I collaborated with Margier White’s State Farm to plan the logistics, secure supplies, create the budget, recruit volunteers, ensure safety, and carry out the event successfully. We served hundreds of families, distributed over 600 backpacks, and united the community through resources, youth talent, and empowerment.
    Publicity
5.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
For publicity, I promoted Shaping the Future 2025 across multiple platforms to ensure the community clearly understood the event and its purpose. I conducted a full radio interview on WIZS and had the event featured on a local news station talk show, which helped reach families who may not be active on social media. I also created flyers, posted updates, and shared behind-the-scenes clips of me planning the event to build excitement. To increase engagement, I hosted pop-up livestreams and encouraged partners to share the event with their networks. Through consistent communication and creative outreach, I made sure youth and families across Vance County knew the event was free, accessible, and designed to empower our community.
    Do the Project
20.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
On the day of Shaping the Future 2025, I arrived early to coordinate setup, oversee volunteer check-in, and make sure all tables, tents, supplies, and vendor stations were arranged correctly. I brought a full packet that included the event schedule, volunteer assignments, vendor contact information, and emergency contacts so I could handle any issues quickly. Throughout the event, I monitored crowd flow, and made real-time adjustments to keep everything running smoothly. I stayed active on social media with photos, livestreams, and updates to highlight the impact and keep the community engaged. I also encouraged volunteers and vendors, answered questions, and ensured families received backpacks, resources, and support without long wait times. Overall, I made sure the event was safe, organized, and successful while still taking moments to enjoy seeing the community come together.
    Project Outcomes & Reflection
5.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
After completing Shaping the Future 2025, I took time to reflect on the event and gather feedback from volunteers, vendors, and families who attended. It was clear that the project reached its goals—over 800 people participated, and more than 500 youth received backpacks, resources, and encouragement, which directly supported the target group I hoped to serve. Many parents shared that this event eased their financial burden, and several youth said it made them feel seen, supported, and excited for the school year, showing real impact in our rural community.
