SUMMARY
Reflection
The Winter Joy Drive didn't go as planned. I found myself with an injury during the drive and could not take out my self-designed flyers to advertise in the community like I wanted to. In result, I had to make some of my own purchases to make sure I could fulfill my project.
However, I was able to put together 13 bags in total and filled them with things such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, stuffed animals, etc. Today, March 20th, 2025, I was able to finally at long last, take them down to the Family Services department of Rockingham County. I did not truly realize the impact I was making until I stepped through those doors and saw how much gratitude the employees showed for this, what I thought, was a small act of kindness.
In the end, I feel such peace knowing I could make a difference in my community. Through this project, I found that I may be able to start volunteering for a particular outreach that is starting up for foster kids!
Project Impact
This project allowed me to deliver thirteen tote bags full of necessities such as soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, as well as toys such as stuffed animals to foster kids within my community. This project taught me patience, appreciation for what I have, and compassion.
