The Elks founded Flag Day with the help of Harry Truman (an Elk member) and has many distinguished members such as John F. Kennedy, Eisenhower and other presidents. The Elks nationally gives millions of dollars in aid to our disabled veterans as well as activities such as the Veterans Picnic, the O'Hare USO home of the holiday, Annual Hoop Shoot each year at Cumberland school. Backpacks and earbuds to disadvantaged grade school students and many many more. A free luncheon or dinner is served each year for prospective volunteers and their parents/guardians (watch for dates and times). A full presentation on what the Elks and their volunteers do for the nation and community will be on display at the luncheon or dinner.
