Forsyth Farmers' Market: Building a Sustainable and Equitable Food System for Coastal Georgia For more than 15 years, Forsyth Farmers' Market (FFM) has been a cornerstone of Savannah's community, fostering connections between local farmers and residents to create a healthier, more sustainable food system. Our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their income or background, has access to fresh, locally grown food. With a farmer-first philosophy, FFM operates year-round at Savannah’s historic Forsyth Park with more than 70 local farmers, growers, and food producers. More than 60% of our vendors are farmers and growers offering high-quality, nutrient-dense produce and goods from within a 150-mile radius. Our programs, including the mobile market Farm Truck 912 and Forsyth Family Farm Share, extend our reach to underserved neighborhoods, promoting food equity and accessibility. Through innovative programs like SNAP/EBT doubling, culturally correct cooking classes, and nutrition education, we empower families and individuals to make informed, healthy choices. FFM also partners with schools, community groups, and local nonprofits to provide hands-on agricultural and nutritional education to children and adults. At FFM, we believe in a community-driven approach to food justice, environmental sustainability, and economic resilience. By supporting small-scale farmers, reducing food waste, and cultivating strong community ties, we are planting the seeds for a healthier future for all. Join us in building a thriving local food system and creating a more equitable, sustainable Coastal Georgia.
