Active4Youth’s mission is to help elementary students in greater Spokane County thrive in their physical, social, mental, and emotional health through a free after-school cross country program. We provide kids with a sense of community and a chance to be part of something bigger than themselves. Our program spans 3 Spokane-area school districts, serving around 5,500 runners each season. We offer 3 hours of coached training each week at elementary schools for a 6-to-8-week season. Participants also compete in two supervised cross-country meets, where local runners compete against their peers. The top qualifiers from each meet are invited to championship events, All-City or All-Valley meets, at the end of the season. At Active4Youth, we aim to ensure every child who wants to participate in sports has the opportunity. We’re proud that our program sees equal participation rates across all schools, regardless of Title 1 status.
