Study Hall's mission is to ensure that every student has access to high-quality educational support, regardless of financial circumstances, learning differences, or academic challenges. Serving students throughout the greater Clinton community—including Clinton, Westbrook, Old Saybrook, Killingworth, Essex, Guilford, and Madison—Study Hall, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides affordable one-on-one tutoring, executive function coaching, SAT preparation, academic enrichment programs, and free reading support for struggling readers. Through personalized instruction and a commitment to educational equity, we empower students to build confidence, strengthen skills, and achieve their full academic potential. For students facing greater academic challenges, including ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and executive functioning difficulties, we provide individualized Executive Function Coaching. Working closely with students and in conjunction with their schoolteachers, we help strengthen the connection between classroom learning and academic success. In Clinton alone, approximately 8% of students live below the poverty line, and more than 12% are English language learners. At Study Hall, we believe every student deserves access to high-quality educational support. We offer low-cost services for all students (private, in-person tutoring is $37/hr versus market rates of $90/hr+), as well as need-based financial scholarships, making academic success accessible to all families. Volunteers must be vetted and are needed for our free reading program, our new “Game Night Social” for teens with social anxiety, and to assist with fundraisers and other programs.
