SUMMARY
Reflection
I learned the importance of doing the little things. Simply going through your old belongings and choosing to donate them can go a long way and impact many people. In my case, the books that I collected will touch numerous students' lives and help foster a love of reading that is critical for the growth of intellectual curiosity.
Project Impact
This project raised dozens of books (with reading levels from preschool to young adult) for 4 different church programs that serve students from a variety of local Chapel Hill elementary and middle schools.
PROJECTS TASKS

Project Planning
4.00 hours leading a collection drive | Compassion
Designed plan to collect books for Christ United Methodist Church Chapel Hill's preschool and after school programs. Selected age-appropriate literature designed to engage young readers and foster a love of reading. Plan to donate books to preschool site and continue to build library collection there.

Do the Project
4.00 hours leading a collection drive | Compassion
Gathered large number of age-appropriate books and delivered to Christ Church after school/preschool programs. Used books from self-directed fundraiser to contribute to an existing book drive as well.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
2.00 hours leading a collection drive | Compassion
The new books from the fundraiser can be used for church after-school initiatives, preschool programs, daycare learning, and summer camp opportunities. The variety of reading levels in the literature will ensure that children are challenged and supported in their literacy journeys. Photo shows an example of a program that is run by the church and supported by donation drives.
