SUMMARY
Reflection
My experience have been very good, I learnt the importance of storing food, and me and my family tried our best to eliminate our food waste. It was very fun and learning experience, and I learnt a lot.
Project Impact
In the beginning of this project, I had a lot of food wastes weighting around 6 pounds, but then my and my family started saving food and eating efficiently which helped us reach the food waste of around 1.3 pounds, hence I can conclude by saying that this project helped me learn the importance of food, and how it should not be wasted.
PROJECTS TASKS
Project Kickoff
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Compassion
In this activity, I decided to make a food-waste bag, which would contain all our food waste from a week, and my family and I tried to eliminate the amount of food waste we generated on weekly basis. Thankfully, in our second week we eliminated a lot of our food waste from a week before.

Week 2 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
I collected all the food waste for week 2, and measured the weight and the volume of the food waste bag.I noticed how I was successful in eliminating a lot of food waste and my weight and volume decreased. And then I compared my 2nd week food waste measurements to my 1st ones.
Food Waste Education
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
My family and I sat down and discussed how we eliminated some of the food waste over 2 weeks, and how we can eliminate more food waste to almost nothing. We talked about eating healthier and in a adequate amount, so we don't waste the left overs. We also talked about how we should finish the food products that rot faster, so they wont be wasted as well.
Week 3 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
I collected all the food waste for week 3, and measured the weight and the volume, which was very less than last week because my family and I tried our best to not waste any food.
Week 4 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
This time My family and I were finally successful in having no food waste, and we consumed or used all the food products with no food wastes.
Week 5 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
This time My family and I were finally successful in having no food waste, and we consumed or used all the food products with no food wastes. This is the second consecutive week we were able to have no food waste, and it feels great to achieve it.
Week 6 Food Waste Measurement
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
We collected our food waste for week 6, and This time, we had some food from outside, that we couldn’t finish and was not good in taste and so we decided to throw it. And so after 2 consecutive weeks of no food wastes, we had some food waste this week.
Project Summary
0.50 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
I sat down with my family, and we reflected how over the course of 6 weeks, we eliminated our food waste form some to 0, and how we now are very sensitive about our food products and eating efficiently. Then I posted my recording of food waste measurements on social media to spread the message of eliminating food waste.
